The Trust is a non profit-making organisation, which supports women at different stages in their development through developing projects and training courses to support and encourage women to represent their communities in public life.

Why do we need Women as Leaders in Public Life?

Some facts:
There are 934 national bodies in the UK offering 22,000 public appointments:
Only 19.8% of MPs are women.
Only 6% of High Court judges are women
Women make up only 23% of senior civil service Management positions but are 70-80% of the workforce
7% of chief executives of media companies are women
12% of vice chancellors of universities are women
12% of directors of museums are women
12% of local council leaders are women
29% of secondary school heads are women

‘Women as Leaders in Public Life’ Course

This course will help you to:

Identify the skills and abilities you already have

How to promote those skills as transferable linked to the job roles in public life

Identify those skills and abilities you wish to develop or attain

Prepare a CV relevant to the public role you wish to pursue and

Support you through practical guidance and advice to present your self at an interview for your chosen public role

Attendance can be either on a weekend residential course accredited through the Open College Network or through a 4 day community based programme.

Professional Presentation Skills Course

A 30 hour accredited programme of learning:

How to structure and deliver a formal presentation of 10-15 minutes duration, identifying suitable information and materials

Choosing appropriate language for level of audience. Use of eye contact, body language and environment when delivering presentations

Use of suitable audiovisual materials and technical equipment, contingency planning for potential problems

How to respond to questions from the audience, provide suitable answers, lead further discussions and use attentive listening skills
